In March 2023, two great events were celebrated at the Sagunto Adventist Campus (CAS). On the one hand, there was the visit of other Adventist schools in Spain to celebrate, together, the traditional school Olympics. On the other hand, during the days of Fallas, a new playground for the youngest students was inaugurated in the Infant and Primary module.
The Sagunto Adventist Campus, after three years, once again opened the doors for the Olympics between the three schools: Rigel, Timon, and CAS.
The event has been taking place for more than 25 years, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was suspended. Finally, after waiting for so long, the organizers have been able to return with this activity so valued by the students.
On March 8–9, many young people from the secondary and primary schools competed, in a friendly atmosphere, in different activities such as floorball, basketball, volleyball, and callball, on the sports courts CAS has.
In addition, they took advantage of the new turf of the football pitch (inaugurated in November 2022), where, with a format of different age-range teams and some mixed teams, they were able to demonstrate their sporting skills and enjoy unique moments. Apart from these sports, they competed individually with speed and relay teams.
Spartan Brain
For the first time, they did a Spartan Brain, where they individually participated in different areas of life and everyone could demonstrate their skills. Afterwards, the winners received a special prize from the center.
At the end of the Olympics, there was a prize-giving event where all participants received medals.
At the secondary level, apart from the medals, the teams and schools received trophies, where the Timón School won four trophies, and the rest stayed at CAS.
Inauguration of Children’s Playground
The inauguration of the children's playground was an unforgettable moment for the whole school community at the Sagunto Adventist Campus. The sandpit next to a sea full of fish, illuminated by the beautiful lighthouse that lights the way; a playground and sports area where they can enjoy, rest, and develop the physical, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions.
At the time of the inauguration, everyone was able to enjoy a chocolatada by AMPA, while the musical band of the J.S. Bach Conservatory offered a special performance. Participants listened to a mascletá of primary school bottles, led by the director of the conservatory, Ismael López. After the presentation and the words of the director of the kindergarten and primary school, a student of the center, together with the author of the work and the director, officially opened the new playground where everyone, including parents and staff of the center, entered to know and enjoy these moments.
A Growing Project
The project developed to help the infants have a better playground where, under the surveillance of the teachers, they can safely grow in all areas of life and learn about the world around them.
The creation of the space was the result of teamwork between many contributors: the maintenance and gardening team, under the supervision of Fernando Martínez, the author of the work; collaboration from the Art Academy with Dámaris López; the support of Víctor Armenteros, dean of Facultad Adventista de Teología de España (FAT), who did the main mural of the work; and the secondary school teacher, Juan Vicente Torres, who was the director of the work and the main architect; and many more who were also there.
