From October 27 to November 2, 2024, the Adventist Voluntary Service Missionary Schools, part of the Peruvian Central East Conference, organized a missionary trip to Cajamarca, a city in northern Peru's mountainous region.
The initiative aimed to provide 12 young Adventists with the opportunity to practice their faith and share the gospel with the local community. The Peruvian Central East Conference serves as the Adventist Church's administrative headquarters, overseeing churches from Lima East to Huaraz.
The volunteers organized various social outreach activities, including rehabilitating parks, visiting those in need, and sharing the gospel with the community.
This trip sought to support local communities and offer volunteers practical experience on the mission field, reinforcing their dependence on God and their identity as part of the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Commitment to the Mission
This program, initiated by the Adventist Church in Northern Peru, promotes voluntary participation through the GloCal Mission strategy, which focuses on local and global missions. It encourages members to engage in fulfilling Matthew 24:14 and emphasizes the importance of preaching the Gospel in preparation for Christ's return.
The Church aims to recruit missionaries locally and internationally, particularly involving young people in initiatives like OYiM 2025 (A Year in Mission). This call to action was intensified on November 9, 2024, with activities to motivate the congregation’s participation during worship.
The Mission Trip to Cajamarca reinforces this commitment by offering young people a comprehensive experience. Participants will contribute to communities while growing spiritually and dedicating themselves to the GloCal Mission.
Missionary Sabbath
On November 9, churches held special programming aimed at inspiring Adventists to engage voluntarily in missionary activities within their communities or beyond. Participants had the opportunity to join various initiatives organized by different departments of the Adventist Church.
