The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cajamarca, Peru, collected 72 units of blood during a one-day campaign held as part of the “Cajamarca, Learning to Live” initiative, promoted by Nuevo Tiempo Perú. Nuevo Tiempo is the Christian Spanish-language TV and radio station in Central and South America.

Organizers reported that the total exceeded the initial goal by 12 units. The donations were delivered to the Blood Bank of the Cajamarca Regional Hospital to help meet ongoing demand for emergency care and surgical procedures.

Hospital officials noted the importance of the campaign, as the facility requires approximately 80 units of blood each month.

“We greatly value this type of donation because it allows us to have blood units available to treat our patients in a timely manner,” said Dr. Giove Alcalde Castañeda, deputy director of the Cajamarca Regional Hospital.

In addition to the blood drive, the initiative included health and wellness presentations for the community. Dr. Ana Escobedo presented a keynote session titled “Strong Families, Healthy Emotions,” while Dr. Miguel Bernui, a public health specialist and host on Nuevo Tiempo radio, spoke on “Habits of Happy People.”

Organizers said these activities aim to promote healthier lifestyles and support community well-being.

Local media outlets highlighted the initiative, noting its contribution to public health awareness and community support.

As part of the broader program, Radio Nuevo Tiempo relaunched its frequency in Cajamarca on April 10. The following day, local Adventist churches hosted spiritual programs focused on strengthening faith and community engagement.
