AdventHealth Volunteers Provide Health Care for Residents in Peruvian Amazonia

In partnership with American Clinic Juliaca, Shawnee Missions volunteers carry out a free medical campaign in Madre de Dios

Following the call to serve others through their vocation, a group of health professionals from AdventHealth, through Shawnee Missions, traveled from the United States to the Madre de Dios region, located in the jungle of Peru, in order to join the efforts of American Clinic of Juliaca (CAJ) in the development of the free "United for your Health" medical campaign to benefit inhabitants.

This campaign was carried out from October 22–26, 2023: Sunday, in La Joya District; Monday, in Mazuko; Tuesday, in Villa El Triunfo; Wednesday and Thursday, in Puerto Maldonado. Specialists in laboratory, gynecology, pediatrics, pharmacy, and other fields provided their services free of charge.

The objective of this campaign was to bring health, love, and hope to those who need it most. It was projected that an average of 2,000 people per day would attend to identify cases of diseases that can be treated in a timely manner.
