The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is already operating in Acre, which is in a state of calamity due to the damage caused by the floods.

In cooperation with the Adventist Church's administrative headquarters in the region, local authorities, civil defense, and other partnering entities, ADRA is assisting families in need of moving or transportation. The team is also visiting affected municipalities to assess immediate needs and be able to offer adequate assistance.

ADRA does not have an office in Acre. However, since February 15, employees and volunteers from ADRA's headquarters in Rondônia have been traveling to the region. “Deciding to go there in the middle of a pandemic and an outbreak of dengue is proof that solidarity is not quarantined. Our team was sent with great care, and we know that God will be with them, protecting them”, points out Fábio Salles, ADRA director for Brazil.

According to João Carvalho, who heads the ADRA regional office in Rondônia, the work is intense. “For more than a week, our team has been visiting the places most affected by the floods, identifying and registering families whose situation is extremely vulnerable. Through these registrations, we will initially help 500 families, delivering food vouchers worth 200 reais.” The appeal was sent by ADRA International after the national office raised an emergency call.
