On November 21, 2023, César Rodrigo suffered a serious car accident while traveling from Cutervo to Chiclayo, in northern Peru. His vehicle fell into an abyss after being hit by another driver, leaving him in critical condition. After being hospitalized in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of a clinic in the city of Chiclayo, doctors gave the family a devastating diagnosis: César had only a few hours to live.
In the midst of despair, the family met Merli Carrasco, an Adventist woman, who asked to pray with them. Carrasco managed to get into the ICU and, together with the family, they cried out to God. Miraculously, Rodrigo's health began to improve. His oxygen saturation stabilized, and hope was reborn in the hearts of his loved ones.
From that moment on, the family committed themselves to seeking God, studying the Bible daily with the guidance of Victor Cusma, an Adventist member. Through Nuevo Tiempo Bible School courses, Rodrigo and his wife Liliana discovered the love of God and principles that transformed their lives, they say. They decided to marry and began to keep the Sabbath faithfully.
"I was hopeless, almost dead, but God gave me back my life. He is a God of opportunities, in Him lies hope and life," said Rodrigo before his baptism.
A Testimony that Inspired Many
Rodrigo and his wife were baptized during an evangelistic week, which featured the message of Daniel Montalván, president of the Adventist Church for northern Peru. The sermon reminded the attendees, "God does not look at your level of education or your past; He only seeks hearts willing to be in His hands."
