September 2024 featured the Week of Hope event in the western region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where more than 730 individuals were baptized, celebrating their faith and commitment to God. Among these stories was the testimony of a 10-year-old girl whose faith inspired many, including her mother who decided to follow Jesus and be baptized during the event. "I want to see my mother in heaven," said Allice Assis Ferreira.
A Trajectory of Dedication
At the age of 9, Ferreira became involved with the Pathfinder club and church activities and decided to be baptized. However, when she attended church with her grandmother, she felt a deep sadness because her mother, Larissa Assis, always found a reason not to go. Despite this, there was something about Ferreira that touched her mother's heart: her daughter's commitment to tithes and offerings.
“I’m just giving back a part of everything God has given me,” she said, revealing a deep understanding of surrender to God. Even at her young age, Ferreira's dedication was what began to touch her mother’s heart.
This sincere faith began to work a silent but powerful transformation in her mother's heart. She confesses that, over time, she only thought that “I should be the one teaching my daughter about obedience to God,” she says. Over time, the Holy Spirit began to work, and Assis realized that she could no longer resist the love she was witnessing, she states.
During the Week of Hope, Assis took a significant step by dedicating her life to Jesus and getting baptized. "I made this decision because I recognized that my purpose on this earth is to know Jesus and share Him with others," she expressed, affirming her strong faith in Christ.
