Six Adventist volunteer teachers in The Language School in Prague have recently become volunteer preachers as well.
The school had a successful nine years of English language instruction. The school teachers, volunteers from the United States, searched for ways to also witness for their faith in God. Eva Kudrnova, director of the school, says, “Church growth in the Czech Republic has been slow, with only around 5 percent of the population attending. I wanted to do something about it.”
The teachers started a church ministry with Friday night and Saturday [Sabbath] services. Every Sabbath there are about 45 people who meet in the classrooms. Closed circuit television is used for those who have to stand outside the small worship room. “We are looking for another location so that there will be enough space for everyone,” says Kudrnova.
“The teachers are on fire,” says Vernon Parmenter, director of Adventist Volunteer Services for the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide. “There is so much excitement in this building. I wish everyone could experience what is happening in this place.”
