On March 18, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted a round table titled “The Creative Role of Women in the Family and Society.” Participants from various religious communities and government bodies discussed how interfaith cooperation can strengthen and preserve Christian spiritual values in families and society at large.

The main moderator, Vladimir Yuryevich Zorin, chair of the Public Chamber Commission on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations, and Migration, emphasized women’s creativity and potential for positive impact in families and other areas of public life. Attendees included representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, commissioners for children’s rights, Public Chamber members, and delegates from organizations such as the Union of Orthodox Women, Protestant churches, and other civic groups.

Svetlana Aleksandrovna Velgosha, head of the Pastor’s Wife Association of the Euro-Asia Division (ESD), delivered a welcoming address. Speakers during the event highlighted women’s influence in nurturing and safeguarding spiritual and moral values.

In unison with the event’s central theme, presenters underscored the urgency of preserving these values amid modern challenges. The gathering also fostered dialogue on practical ways to support families and ensure that women’s potential is fully realized in various spheres of Russian society.

The round table was organized by the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations and Migration; the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on Demography, Protection of Family, Children and Traditional Family Values; the International Public Organization “Union of Orthodox Women”; the Charitable Foundation “Women for Life”; the Centralized Religious Organization Russian United Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals); and the ESD.

The ESD is a regional headquarters of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, overseeing the church’s work in several countries across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Headquartered in Moscow, Russia, the ESD coordinates evangelistic initiatives, educational programs, healthcare services, and humanitarian projects, aiming to share hope and positively impact diverse communities throughout the region.
