Teaching about the Bible has never been as easy as it is today, when technology and the internet enhance the reach of communication. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, digital evangelism has become an even greater reality among Bible students. During the months of April and May, Adventist women in northern Bahia received training and support to conduct a total of 235 virtual and face-to-face Bible classes (the latter in communities with poor internet access).
Aislan Alves Dias was one of the women who adapted and already obtained results with the new way of evangelizing. “We already have thirty-six people studying the Bible, and four have already accepted baptism. We achieved this result through the internet, and we believe that we will reach more people. We pray every day for this online evangelism, and everything is for the honor and glory of God,” she says.
After two months of virtual studies, Adventist women carried out evangelism campaigns in northern Bahia, where Bible students decided to give themselves to Christ through baptism. Maria Eloísa worked in the district of Vale do Salitre in Juazeiro. “Here is the first year of female evangelism, and thank God, every night, the services are full. It's my first time as a woman evangelist, and I'm learning a lot. I always had a desire to preach and do this work. It's been a dream come true. I have felt the Holy Spirit pouring out the blessings in the church. I just have to thank God for this opportunity,” she says.
In the month of May, there were more than 214 women-led evangelistic campaigns taking place in Adventist churches. Marta Santos was also one of the women evangelists who had new experiences on her journey. “If we do what God commands, He Himself enables us. I could see my daughter walking in a pink outfit beside the pastor, ready to give herself to Christ through baptism. It was a surprise to me to see people giving themselves to Jesus, including my daughter. I'm grateful to God for all he's done for me because He doesn't choose the capable ones. He empowers the chosen ones”, she says.
Adventist Women's Sabbath Mission
The Adventist Women’s Sabbath Mission was celebrated on June 5 by Adventists in South America. The celebration was filled with special programs, praises and inspiring messages, social actions, and baptisms. Adventist women were honored for their commitment to the mission of spreading the love of Christ.
Evana Carvalho is the director of the Ministry of Women in the Felix Thomaz neighborhood in Jacobina. She participated in the tributes to women and was happy with the recognition. “It was wonderful to see all the women involved in preaching the gospel, where we can see lives changed. We need to take the message of Christ the Savior to the world”, she points out.
Cleide Miranda also expressed her gratitude. “Everyone is born into the kingdom of God as a missionary, and our church is filled with women missionaries. I'm new to the Adventist Church, but I'm already happy to be included in evangelism and in Women's Ministries,” she says.
