The Pioneer Mission Movement (PMM) exists for the purpose of planting churches in countries that are less evangelised. This year’s PMM missionary dedication service was held on November 9, 2021, at Paju International Church, sending out two missionary families in the 20th batch: Pastor Cho KiHyeong will be dispatched to the 1000 Missionary Movement (1000MM) Training Center in the Philippines to serve as the associate director; Pastor Kang ByungJoo, to Shinchu Church in Taiwan. At the dedication service, the two pastors and their families vowed to devote themselves to God’s work in their mission fields.

During the service, Kim SiYoung, Northern-Asia Pacific Division (NSD) president, delivered a sermon from the book of Exodus. “You have to leave a safe, comfortable, and familiar place and put yourself in a new environment where language and culture are different. But please keep in mind that God first called you, not that you chose the path of a missionary. He will be ahead of you as He led the Israelites advancing toward Canaan,” said Elder SiYoung.

In his encouraging message, Pastor Kang SoonKi, president of the Korean Union Conference (KUC), asked the missionaries to remember the word of God in Matthew 28: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” He appealed to the missionaries to remain faithful always and go forward with the power of the Holy Spirit.

On behalf of the missionaries, Pastor KiHyeong read his words of dedication: “When I decided to apply as a missionary for 1000MM a long time ago, Satan constantly made me see my sins and shortcomings. Nevertheless, I applied as a missionary, and that choice led me to become a pastor. This time, when I decided to become a PMM missionary, Satan once again led me to consider myself inappropriate for the position. However, I’ve taken the courage to be a missionary again. When I applied for a missionary [sic] for the first time, I tried to save myself. Now I’m going to my mission field to save others.”

The dedication service ended with a dedicatory prayer offered by a group of church leaders from NSD and KUC. The missionaries will be sent to their mission field after completing the three-day training session for PMM missionaries.
