Professor of Adventist Education to Exhibit Artwork at the Louvre Museum

Raquel Falk prepares to exhibit new work next year in Paris

From simple origin to the City of Lights. Raquel Falk, Professor at Colégio Adventista de Vitória (CAV) , is going to exhibit painting on canvas at the Louvre Museum, in Paris, next year. She was invited by a company that specializes in promoting local artists and is now preparing to create a new work of art to exhibit in France.

Born in the city of Serra, in Greater Vitória, Raquel grew up with many difficulties. However, her grandmother, Marmelina, who was a confectioner, and her mother, Olga, a seamstress, were the pillars and inspiration that helped her become the artist she is today. Her efforts paid off and led to her approval at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes) in Visual Arts.

"I come from a very simple reality and I always dreamed of wanting more. This willpower led to my invitation today", she stresses.

Falk has been a teacher for 20 years, and has taught in Adventist Education for five. But, she has only been an artist for three years. It was 2018 when she decided to devote quality time to watercolour paintings. The material she develops goes straight to social media and it was there that Raquel was discovered.

"I try to inspire the students. I try to do practical things that explore their creative side…”

The result, according to Raquel, is shown by the students' continued interest in the area. She says that many students are migrating to the art world thanks to her bringing some of her artwork into the classroom.

Exhibition in Paris

Raquel hopes to paint two paintings inspired by the dancers' theme, something she has already studied and which requires very specific and complex techniques. The idea is that the painting explores the fluidity of paint on canvas without the need for exact proportions, as well as the lightness and delicacy seen in dancers.

"The styles are organic with a lot of paint and they were successes in Paraty", recalls the teacher, citing the paintings she has already painted and exhibited in this same proposal.

The exhibition will take place in October 2022 and it is expected that 30,000 people will circulate during the days the teacher stays there. And no wonder: the Louvre Museum is the most visited in the world and houses 615,000 works in its premises, including the famous work of the Mona Lisa, by Leonardo da Vinci.
