Medical Mission Organized on the Island of Mindoro in Preparation for Adventist World Leaders’ Evangelistic Initiative

Despite setbacks, the USA-based Adventist Medical Evangelism Network (AMEN) being unable to attend the medical mission in Mindoro, pushed through with AMEN Philippines and the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) Health Ministries medical team on November 8, 2021. The medical mission areas were Pinamalayan and Idiong, Manansalay, Mindoro.

The Pinamalayan Medical Mission team consisted of 44 people, 23 of which are doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, and optometrists coming from different areas of Manila, supported by 11 hospital staff volunteers and 10 church volunteers.

Indeed, the harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. With a small yet determined team, the group was able to serve about 300–350 people a day, providing them with dental check-ups, minor surgeries, circumcisions, optometric check-ups, and general check-ups. Though the numbers may seem small and the setbacks and challenges are many, the Pinamalayan team's weaknesses are made perfect in God's strength. No words can describe how fulfilling it is to be part of the Pinamalayan Medical Mission team and channels of blessing, healing, and compassion from our Maker towards the people.

Patients who were beneficiaries of the medical mission were grateful for this initiative. They said after almost two years of lockdown, medical practitioners were brave to visit their area to offer medical assistance and provide much-needed aid for their common health concerns. Individuals who attended the medical mission didn't only receive free medical assistance but also literature materials as gifts to provide hope and spiritual healing.

This medical mission is an integral part of an evangelistic initiative that will be spearheaded by Adventist World Radio through Elder Duane McKey as one of the main speakers, together with Elder Ted Wilson, president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
