The Good Hands volunteer association has been helping people in need since November 2019, and on June 14, they were at it again. This time, Good Hands collected food packages for large families in their local community of Nizhny Novgorod, in Russia.
“We adjusted the collections to suit the needs of large families,” explains Olga Kozulya, coordinator of the Good Hands movement. “They added to the boxes dry cream and sweet surprises for each child.”
Many social assistance recipients are mobile or at higher risk for COVID-19. Therefore, the volunteers of the association delivered products to the doors of those in need. Six vehicles took part in the delivery of the packages; those who could come to the site on their own received food packages in the church building.
Within a week of COVID-19 shutting down most of the world, people came to the church to use the services of the humanitarian aid room, where they could choose clothes and shoes for free. Some visitors not only receive help from a volunteer association, but also help themselves: they bring clothes, put things in order, and help with transport. In this latest effort, 70 families received food packages and 20 families received clothes and shoes.
