Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventists gathered last night at the Béthanie Adventist Church in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, to kick off two weeks of online evangelistic meetings as part of the culmination of dozens of evangelism efforts, which started in January. The event is part one of territory-wide efforts across churches in the French-speaking regions of the Inter-American Division, including Haiti, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana, which are expected to see results in the form of thousands of baptisms, church leaders said.
“We are very happy to be able to organize this first international campaign together with the French Antilles Guiana Union,” said Pastor Pierre Caporal, president of the church in Haiti. “We have worked hard to plan, discuss, pray, and make decisions together, doing the task that Christ has given us to share the gospel.”
The series, which will run until April 16, is part of the climax of comprehensive teamwork among the more than 200 district pastors and hundreds of laypersons who have tirelessly endeavored to spread the message of hope and salvation through small group Bible studies and community impact activities during Inter-America’s centennial anniversary this year, said Caporal.
Coined as “Amen, Come, Lord Jesus,” the series is being carried by the church’s Hope Media Haiti. The keynote speaker is Pastor Vanel Louissaint, evangelist, pastor, and Personal Ministries director for the church in the Central Haiti Conference. The meetings will take place every evening through April 16, 2022, from 6:00–7:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time.
Pastor Louissaint began the series focused on the second coming of Jesus and the hope that everyone can find in Him. “Jesus will end [all] of the problems facing the world today,” said Louissaint. “There’s lack of love, loneliness, suffering, and many injustices in this world. There’s death, but we have Jesus, and He is coming to take us home.”

Church leaders said it was important to launch the series at the Béthanie Adventist Church in Pétion-Ville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital. Pétion-Ville has hundreds of businesses and many communities that need to be targeted with the gospel, said Caporal. Dozens watched the program in person, while others watched online or listened in on the church’s Voix de l’Espérance radio station, as well as throughout homes in the French Antilles Guiana Union via the church’s online Esperance TV Interamerique Channel.
Church leaders in Haiti are expected to add 2,500 new believers at the end of the series. Since the start of the year, more than 6,400 new believers have been baptized in Haiti, Caporal said.
Pastor Max Laurent, who recently retired as a field secretary for the church in Inter-America and was a former president of the French Antilles Guiana Union, said both French-speaking unions have worked together since last year to prepare for this series.
“It was a dream for me to see leaders of the Haitian and French Antilles Guiana unions working closely together as one body, one team, to reach more people with the gospel this year,” said Laurent. The initial intention was to carry one campaign for both regions, but because of time differences and some safety concerns, the campaign in Haiti is taking place the first part of April, and the French Antilles Guiana Union will hold its series May 8–22, 2022, from Martinique.
Evangelist Pierre-Manuel Fleurantin, who is serving as the executive secretary of the French Guiana Mission, will be the keynote speaker during the two-week “Living at the Heart of the Crisis” series, conducted at an Adventist church in Martinique.
Leaders in the French Antilles Guiana Union have been doubling their evangelism efforts and are aiming to baptize 1,000 souls this year, church leaders said.
