Eight-episode Series Reinforces Adventists' Core Beliefs

Hope for the End Time will present the theological pillars on which the Adventist Church is based

Brazil | Anne Seixas

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has specific beliefs that differentiate it from other Protestant religions. They are all based entirely on the Bible. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, more people have had access to its contents through the internet, since, in this period, part of the services and programs have become totally or partially online.

Hence was born the series of studies Hope for the End Time, which will be broadcast on June 13–20 at 8 p.m. GMT on the Facebook and Youtube channels for the Adventist Church in Brazil. The content will also be available on a specific website with more details on the subject.

Pastor Adolfo Suárez, Master and Doctor of Science in Religion and current dean of the Latin American Adventist Theology Seminary (SALT), is the series producer. “People have connected through online and mobile preaching, seeking to feed on the Word; and several themes and approaches emerged, with a strong emphasis on eschatology [study related to the endtime]. I thought there should be a series that dealt with prophetic themes linked to the remnant people and that connected with hope, which is something everyone wants in these difficult times we've been through”, he details.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church was founded in 1863 in the United States. To define their beliefs, Suárez recalls the pioneers who studied the Bible deeply and, with much prayer and unity, "began to systematize the biblical truths, which have always been considered beliefs, teachings, and never dogmas. And they were careful not to trust tradition or the words of people; everything was based on the Word of God."

Fundamental Beliefs

The theologian also points out that despite having similarities with other Protestant denominations, Adventists "have distinctive beliefs, such as Sabbath, the mortality of the soul, and the role of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. In addition, the Adventist Church preaches the three angels' messages of Revelation 14, the last appeal to humanity.

"We Adventists therefore advance the study and understanding of truth; and God led us to reform bíblical and theology much more comprehensively and faithfully to sacred Scripture; the doctrinal result of this can be seen in the book We Believe in This. This does not make us better than others, but it certainly gives us great responsibilities and privileges”, reflects Suárez.
