Church Dedicates 21 Days to Prayer for Those Affected by World Conflicts

This week, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South America launched a prayer campaign on behalf of those suffering from world conflicts. In addition to the ongoing battle between Russia and Ukraine, it includes people in other regions of the world who have faced problems regarding religious freedom. The initiative runs March 7–27. 

"We have lived [through] difficult days. We need to pray for those who suffer and act in their favor, either through intercession or through assistance through resources and entities that act directly to reduce the suffering of men, women, and children," underlines Pastor Stanley Arco, president of the church for eight South American countries, in mentioning the work of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

The more than 2.5 million members in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay are invited to dedicate moments of prayer at two periods of the day, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., always for specific reasons . One of them, for example, calls for "peace in conflict zones." Another, "for those who suffer from war."

"Unfortunately, conflicts are recurring realities in the history of the world. But throughout the ages, people have bent their knees and cried out to God. And He heard them. He always hears us," points out Pastor Bruno Raso, vice president of the church for eight South American countries.

Although it ends on March 27, each person is encouraged to continue in prayer, either intimately or on different occasions, such as church meetings, small groups, or virtual meetings.
