Two Adventist hospitals in Brazil have been recognized among the country’s top healthcare institutions in the 2026 edition of the World’s Best Hospitals ranking compiled by Newsweek in partnership with Statista.

The Manaus Adventist Hospital (Hospital Adventista de Manaus - HAM) ranked 28th nationally and has appeared in the ranking for the sixth consecutive year. The Silvestre Adventist Hospital also appeared on the list, ranking 72nd among Brazil’s top hospitals.

The ranking evaluates the 100 leading hospitals in the country and includes both public and private institutions.

Ranking evaluates hospital quality and safety

The Newsweek ranking is considered one of the leading independent assessments of the hospital sector and analyzes public and private institutions based on criteria such as quality of care, patient safety, recommendations from healthcare professionals, public quality indicators, and patient satisfaction surveys.

The methodology also considers so-called Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), which directly assess how the patient perceives their recovery, quality of life, and the outcome of the treatment received.

In total, more than 2,500 hospitals were evaluated in different countries, and the list is used as an international benchmark to identify institutions that stand out for their clinical quality, safety, and trustworthiness of care.

Both hospital units are part of Adventist Health Brazil (AHB) , a network responsible for managing hospitals, medical centers, clinics, medical spas, and health plan operators linked to the Adventist Church in the country. With a long history in healthcare, these institutions develop a person-centered care model, focusing on promoting health, recovery, and quality of life for patients.

Leaders reflect on recognition

According to Gilnei de Abreu, president of Adventist Health Brazil, the ranking reflects the ongoing work of healthcare teams and the organization’s mission in the country.

“This result reflects the excellence of our care, the dedication of our staff, and our ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and comprehensive patient care,” Abreu said. “It is both a reason for gratitude and a reminder of our responsibility to continue advancing our mission to serve, heal, and save.”

Davi Reis Lopes, medical executive director of Adventist Health Brazil, said the recognition also highlights the consistency of the care model implemented across the network.

“This recognition reinforces confidence in the work developed by our teams and reaffirms our commitment to safe and compassionate care centered on the needs of each patient,” Lopes said.

Gideon Basílio, general director of the Adventist Hospital in Manaus, credited the hospital’s healthcare professionals for the recognition.

“This result reflects the dedication and daily effort of our entire team,” Basílio said.

Continuing a tradition of healthcare

Adventist healthcare institutions have operated in Brazil for decades, providing medical services with an emphasis on quality care, safety, and holistic health. In addition to clinical services, these institutions also develop community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting health and supporting local populations.
