“In the Center of Attention,” a live, nightly talk show that enjoyed an 18-month run on national television, received the “Opera Prima” award from the Romanian Association of Television Professionals, or APTR. The award was presented to Mihai Gadea, producer/host of the telecast, on May 31 in a ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bucharest.

“It is often considered that in order to reach high ratings, television programs have to accommodate with the taste for the sensational and trivial,” the APTR jury said. “Mihai Gadea proved that, when well done, a telecast which is sensible and elevating can both bring together guests of high moral principles and superior spiritual quality and reach a very good audience.”

“In the Center of Attention” was designed to communicate the church’s worldview as it relates to current events, Bible themes, and health and cultural matters. It ran nightly from September 2002 to May 2004. A wide range of public figures have appeared on the program, including Romanian government officials, education, health, and culture ministers, and the nation’s foreign secretary and justice minister. Many pastors and leaders of the Adventist Church were guests on the program, including Dr. Jan Paulsen, Adventist world church president.

The Adventist Media Center in Bucharest supports the missionary endeavor of the church and is preparing programming for the church’s Hope Channel.
