Nuevo Tiempo in Peru inaugurated its "Milton Afonso" television studio, a production space leaders said will support programming produced in Peru for audiences across eight Spanish-speaking countries in South America.

The 120 m² area includes a 4K switcher, a makeup area, and dedicated sets for the youth debate program Controversia (Controversy), the Bible study and analysis program Escuela Bíblica NT (NT Bible School), and the space for inspiring testimonies and live music called Feliz Sábado (Happy Sabbath). This new space will optimize pre-production, production, and post-production time for audiovisual content.

How the dream began

According to Nuevo Tiempo Peru, the vision for the studio began in early 2005 during the recording of the Bible study project “The Faith of Jesus,” when Dr. Milton Afonso, described as an Adventist businessman with a strong interest in communication ministry, visited Peru and proposed developing a television studio for the Adventist Church in the country.

Driven by his visionary spirit, he presented a proposal for a television studio construction project for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Peru.

“When the plan was approved, he made a significant donation that allowed the building to be started and completed, making this dream a reality,” recounted Samuel Saito, who was involved in the project's beginnings.

Years later, the studio property was acquired by Nuevo Tiempo Perú; however, the final phase of the project was still pending. Therefore, the TV team found themselves needing to use different spaces to continue producing the programs.

Thanks to the financial contributions of current recurring donors known as "Angels of Hope," the final stage was completed in February 2026. This included the implementation of technical and technological support, lighting, electrical systems, and stage design.

In recognition and gratitude for Afonso's vision, the studio now bears his name.

“We are very grateful for Dr. Afonso's initiative in dreaming of expanding the audiovisual message back then. Today, this is a reality that will provide better working conditions for the television team,” says Remberto Sarzuri, general director of NT Peru.

A new era for TV

The television studio was inaugurated on February 23, 2026, and is located within the “Bethel” center, in Ricardo Palma, east of the city of Lima.

“The programs we have here on TV Nuevo Tiempo are meant to bring hope, and having everything optimized here will be a great advantage to continue producing content that is a blessing for viewers,” says Angie Trigos, television producer.

The “Milton Afonso” studio began operating on February 24, that is, the day after its inauguration.
