Young Adventist volunteers gathered to participate in the community day event in Valdivia.

Through social, recreational, and spiritual activities, more than 90 young Adventists benefited residents of various neighborhoods in Valdivia, Chile. The community service day took place on July 11, 2026, and brought together dozens of university students and young leaders from the south of the country.

The volunteers distributed food and Christian literature, helped clean public spaces, and organized recreational activities for children, families, and passersby. This activity is part of a new edition of the School of Mission in Action, an initiative promoted by the Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS) in the South American Division.

AVS connects people of all ages with service projects in education, health, construction, and social development both locally and internationally.

During the day, participants toured various sectors of Valdivia to address community needs through community service. The project included implementing the Share Your Bread initiative, cleaning nearby streets and common areas, conducting urban interventions and recreation, and sharing messages of encouragement with residents.

Participants recalled Abraham, a resident of Valdivia, approached the group to ask for some bread.

Upon learning the purpose of the activity and observing the young people's enthusiasm, he decided to join the team. From that moment on, he accompanied the volunteers for the rest of the day, becoming just another volunteer for the day.

At the end of the activities, participants had a moment to reflect on the day's experiences. The meeting also included the testimony of Jorge Silva Navarrete. The Chilean volunteer shared his experience serving on community projects in Egypt. His testimony encouraged those present to continue promoting empathy, teamwork, and service to others.
