On July 6, 2025, during the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session in St. Louis, Missouri, delegates elected Gideon M. Mutero as an associate treasurer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the 2025–2030 quinquennium.
Mutero currently serves as vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Hope Channel International. He has previously held treasury roles at nearly every level of the church, including local conference, division, and GC—and served as chief financial officer for ADRA International, where he emphasized mission-aligned financial management.
He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration, as well as a Doctor of Leadership degree from Andrews University. Mutero views stewardship as a spiritual calling, committing to aligning every financial decision with the church’s mission.
Mutero is married to Sophia, who works with Adventist Risk Management. They have two adult daughters, Rachel and Peris.
The election is part of the broader decision-making process of the GC Session, where global delegates gather every five years for worship, prayer, and organizational leadership decisions.
