With the goal of strengthening the missionary spirit among students, the Seventh-day Adventist Education network in Brazil organized the Siga-me (Follow Me) event.

The program, held in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, brought together 160 students and 30 staff members, including pastors and teachers, from seven Adventist schools in the south-central region of Santa Catarina. The event focused on training participants for mission within the school environment.

Participants were selected by school pastoral teams and are already involved in spiritual and missionary initiatives among their peers. The training targeted students from the eighth grade through high school, preparing them to serve as spiritual influencers in their schools.

During the event, participants engaged in practical activities and training sessions designed in an intensive format inspired by leadership and discipline models. The program aimed to develop courage, initiative, and commitment to mission.

Organizers said the goal is for students to return to their schools prepared to support evangelistic activities, Bible studies, and spiritual projects, using approaches that connect with their fellow students.

For Marlon Oliveira, pastor and director of Adventist Education in the south-central region of Santa Catarina, student involvement plays a key role in expanding the reach of the Christian message within schools.

“They have a unique ability to communicate the gospel in a language their peers understand,” Oliveira said. “When young people reach other young people, the message becomes more relatable, natural, and impactful within the school environment.”
