Bassey E. O. Udoh Elected President of the West-Central Africa Division

He succeeds Robert Osei-Bonsu, who was earlier elected as one of the general vice presidents of the General Conference.

Bassey Effiong Okon Udoh was elected on July 7, 2025, as president of the West-Central Africa Division (WAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Udoh is a seasoned church administrator, theologian, and educator with more than three decades of service in pastoral ministry and leadership. He will lead a division that covers 22 countries and counts more than one million church members.

Born on June 18, 1965, in Adadia, Uruan, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Udoh began his academic journey in Uyo before advancing to Holy Trinity Secondary School. He holds a PhD in religion (social ethics) from the University of Calabar, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees in religion from Andrews University.

His pastoral ministry began in 1990, and he has served in various leadership roles, including secretary and then president of the Eastern Nigeria Union Mission, and more recently as president of the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference. In addition to his leadership in church governance, he has chaired numerous boards, including those of Babcock University and Clifford University, and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Nigeria.

Udoh is married to Enobong Bassey Udoh, a health professional, and they have four children.
