Seventh-day Adventist youth in the Chililabombwe Mission Districts, local church regions within the North-West Zambia Conference (NWZC), commemorated Global Youth Day through a series of impactful community service activities focused on environmental stewardship and civic engagement.

On March 15, 2026, the youth donated five waste bins to the Chililabombwe Municipal Council in support of enhanced solid waste management within the district. The donation was formally handed over during a brief ceremony, during which local Adventist pastor Lilongwe Barron Katebe underscored the vital role of young people in driving positive change and contributing meaningfully to community development.

As part of the day’s activities, the youth also conducted a clean-up at Lubengele Market to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment.

Leaders say the event was aligned with the Global Youth Day theme, “Communion in Action,” which calls on young people to embody the love of Christ through practical acts of service.

The commemorations culminated on March 21, 2026, with a large gathering of over 400 youth from across Chililabombwe and Kasumbalesa. Several civic leaders, including the Mayor of Chililabombwe, Sichone Lucky, and the area Member of Parliament, Paul Kabuswe, attended the event.

Delivering the keynote sermon, Katebe urged youth to remain steadfast in their faith and consistent in community service.

In his remarks, Kabuswe commended the youth for complementing government efforts in community development and pledged his support with a donation of ZMW$50,000 (about US$2,600) towards their ongoing initiatives. He noted that such efforts demonstrate the transformative potential of young people in fostering positive change within society.
