Shoppers at Grande Circular mall in Manaus, Brazil, were surprised by a flash mob organized by Seventh-day Adventist youth from the eastern region of Amazonas on March 28, 2026.

The presentation featured music and a dramatization depicting moments from Jesus’ suffering before the crucifixion, drawing the attention of those passing through the shopping center.

The initiative was part of Holy Week outreach activities, a period that commemorates the Passion of Christ. According to organizer Rielly Guimarães, the goal was to present the message in a way that would connect with people in a public setting.

“We are in Holy Week, and since the theme brings the drama of the Passion, we decided to create a different invitation to impact people, bringing Jesus to the middle of a shopping mall, so that they can see Him, sit next to Him and truly observe what He went through, understanding that what He did on the cross was for each one of us,” Rielly highlighted.

A moment of reflection

The presentation portrayed a silent figure representing Jesus, inviting onlookers to approach. Many accepted the invitation, sitting nearby and pausing for reflection.

Following the dramatization, a youth choir performed the song “The Crown,” reinforcing the message of the presentation. For a brief period, the shopping area became a space for reflection and spiritual engagement.

Public response

The initiative resonated with members of the public. Angeuly Silva, a sales manager at the mall, described the experience.

“It was impactful and reminded me that the true meaning of Easter is this: it is Christ, it is the love of Christ, it is the crucifixion for humanity, so that we may have the right to salvation,” she stated.

Arovel Leonay, Youth Ministries director for the Northwest region of Brazil, emphasized the importance of creative outreach.

“Congratulations to the Adventist Church in Eastern Amazonas for this initiative, which needs to be repeated more and more. Today, we feel that people want Jesus; they like Jesus. We want to present the Jesus who can heal wounds and transform lives,” he declared.

Following the presentation, participants distributed invitations to Holy Week meetings at Adventist churches in the region.

Organizers said the initiative demonstrated how public spaces can become opportunities for reflection and connection, even in the midst of a busy urban environment.
