Christian Vision and Hearing Services (CVHS), a ministry of Adventist Media, is helping church members with vision challenges access Scripture through free giant-print and audio Bibles tailored to their needs.

CVHS coordinator Cassie Etwell explained the importance of accessible formats.

“Because of certain challenges, not everyone can access the Bible in the standard format,” she said. “Accessible Bibles are needed for people to be able to overcome this barrier and access God’s Word in a manner suitable to their needs.”

According to Etwell, people with vision and hearing challenges can sometimes struggle to find Scripture in a format they can use, negatively affecting their connection with God’s Word.

One recipient, Glenn Schofield, said receiving a Giant Letter Bible enabled him to continue reading Scripture.

“I am so humbled and appreciative of your kindness and generosity in allowing me to have this Bible,” he said. “I can now read with my reading glasses.”

In addition to giant-print Bibles, CVHS provides godpods—audio Bibles produced by Adventist World Radio—for members who are blind or have very low vision. The devices feature tactile buttons that allow users to navigate between books, chapters, and verses of the Bible and include a built-in solar panel for charging.

Since introducing the initiative in mid-2025, CVHS has helped more than 20 people access Scripture through Giant Letter Bibles and godpods.
