With the goal of expanding protection for vulnerable children and youth, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency Ecuador (ADRA Ecuador) launched the ongoing project "Let's Take Care of Their Childhood." The initiative seeks to create a network of 2,000 supportive sponsors who, through one-time or recurring donations, will contribute to funding comprehensive care services, specialized support, and the restoration of children's rights.
The funds raised will strengthen protection programs for children affected by abandonment, neglect, violence, or family separation. The initiative invites individuals, families, churches, businesses, and organizations to become permanent partners in this cause, with the goal of providing safe environments and new opportunities for the country's most vulnerable children.
Let's Take Care of Their Childhood was born in response to the reality faced by thousands of children who need comprehensive support to build a safer future with hope and new opportunities.
The campaign was officially launched during a special Facebook Live broadcast, which was also rebroadcast on the digital platforms of the Adventist Church and ADRA South America. During the program, child protection specialists reflected on the challenges faced by thousands of children and adolescents and emphasized the importance of a collective commitment from society to ensure their well-being.
Nahomy Faubla, national director of ADRA Ecuador, explained that the project seeks to reduce the institutionalization of minors, strengthen comprehensive care, and promote citizen participation through concrete actions that contribute to restoring children's rights.
One of the most significant moments was the story of a child who entered a protection program after experiencing extreme vulnerability. Thanks to the support provided by ADRA Ecuador, he received psychological care, medical attention, food, and a safe environment, which ultimately led to his family reuniting. His story reflects the impact that timely intervention can have on a child's life.
The event also featured Alexis Collao, chaplain of ADRA Chile, and Zaida Rodríguez, head of Development and Technical Assistance for child protection projects at ADRA Chile. They shared experiences and reflections on the role of family, community, the Adventist Church, and social organizations in creating spaces that guarantee child protection.
With "Let's Take Care of Their Childhood," ADRA Ecuador reaffirms its commitment to serving the most vulnerable children and calls on society to join this network of solidarity and support, capable of transforming lives and building a better future for new generations.
