The project Quebrando o Silêncio is now part of the official calendar of events in the State of Amazonas. The date, set for the fourth Sabbath in August, follows the direction already defined by the Adventist Church throughout South America. The bill is authored by Deputy Dr. Mayara Pinheiro. Law No. 5.461 entered into force on May 13, 2021.
On one of her social networks, the deputy reinforced the importance of the campaign Quebrando o Silêncio. “A beautiful project for our women, children, and elderly people who needed this recognition. I congratulate the Adventist Church in the Northwest region for the initiative and make my office available to support projects like this, which strengthen our network of protection for victims of violence”, she emphasized.
Since 2002, the Adventist Church's campaign has sought to prevent and raise awareness of all types of abuse and violence. Over the years, the project has consolidated itself as a means of dialogue and prevention for the community. Rondônia, Roraima and Cristiane Caxeta, the denomination's Women's Ministries director for the states of Acre and Amazonas, respectively, highlighted the importance of the date in the official calendar of Amazonas, which strengthens the campaign and encourages people not to remain silent, denouncing the aggressors.
“It is with great gratitude that we celebrate this achievement and recognition by the state through Dr. Mayara Pinheiro. It's been 19 years of changing realities in Amazonas with the project Quebrando o Silêncio”, she pointed out.
