More than 700 students received certificates after completing Bible correspondence courses at the Discover Bible School in Homu, in Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission (EHSM) territory in Papua New Guinea.

A total of 1,045 certificates were given out to 727 adults and school children at the Homu Adventist Primary School on November 8. Among the recipients were prisoners from the Barawagi jail in Chimbu Province.

Certificates were given to students who studied from 2018 to 2022. Many were students attending the Homu and Kami Adventist primary schools. Courses taken included Let’s Begin, Let’s Explore, Discover, Luksave Long Jisas, Steps to Christ, Try Jesus, Light of the World, Health, Digging up the Past, and Digging Deeper.

Witnessing the certification ceremony were Pastor Joanis Fezamo, EHSM president, directors from the local mission, pastors, teachers, and friends.

Pastor Fezamo, who took the courses while in primary school in the 1980s, encouraged the students to study the Bible while young so as to strengthen their faith in Christ as they grow older. “The lessons helped me understand Scripture, which led me to become a pastor,” he said.

Samson Obedi, EHSM Communication director, thanked the Homu and Kami Adventist schools for enrolling their students in the Bible school and encouraged them to take other courses and continue learning.
