#weRtheCHURCH is back with more inspiring stories from around the South Pacific Division (SPD)—and this time there will be an extra buzz, as the program will be live!

SPD president Pastor Glenn Townend will be joined by Avondale University College theology and ministry student Renée Vaovafa as hosts of the program, which will be broadcast live from the Adventist Media studios in Wahroonga at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 28 (AEDT)*, following an episode of the children’s show “King’s Kids” at 5:30 p.m.

The theme for the program is “Preparing the soil,” based on the first stage of the harvest cycle process to become a disciple-making movement. It will feature uplifting music, inspiring mission stories, and testimonies from around the South Pacific, with the live format providing the hosts and others with an opportunity to interact with the online audience.

“I’m really looking forward to the next #weRtheCHURCH program,” Townend says. “We will be sharing wonderful stories of how churches are reaching out in their communities, being the hands and feet of Jesus. The live format will bring a new dimension to the event, and I’d encourage you to send us a message, ask a question, or simply say hello via the online platforms on which the program will be running.”

The SPD leaders are experimenting with making #weRtheCHURCH a regular initiative following widespread enthusiasm for the first program in May. The first #weRtheCHURCH showcased how the mission of the church has been continuing in new and creative ways despite the challenges of COVID-19. Up to 200,000 viewers were believed to have tuned in to the inaugural program.

“#weRtheCHURCH provides an opportunity to showcase the incredible diversity of our division while encouraging and connecting us as Adventists,” Townend says. “It has helped to unite the church in the South Pacific like never before.”

The August 28 program will be available for viewing at the #WeRtheCHURCH web page, the Adventist Media Facebook page, and on the Adventist Media YouTube channel. It will also go to air live on Hope Channel Australia.

*For those unable to tune in to the live program, it will be recorded and available to view at a later time.
