The objective of Novo Tempo, the Portuguese Christian TV channel and radio station for Brazil, is to preach about the Bible through media. But there is also an aspect in which employees get directly involved with people called Núcleo NT em Missão (Nucleus NT in Mission).

The initiative is responsible for promoting projects on different fronts to serve the local community and also with missionary trips. Novo Tempo's headquarters are in São Paulo, Brazil. Since the beginning of 2024, the volunteers have been to children's homes, set up prayer tents, visited a prison, and delivered donations in the city and surrounding municipalities.

On June 7, 2024, a group of 32 employees left for Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, to work on the Salva Vidas Amazonas (Saving Amazonian Lives) project from the Instituto de Missões Noroeste (Northeastern Mission Institute), which belongs to União Noroeste Brasileira (Northeastern Brazilian Union), the administrative headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for that region.

The group of Novo Tempo employees was formed with representation from different areas such as TV, radio, web, marketing, Bible school, and technology. Upon arriving, the 32 individuals sailed 12 hours by boat on the Igarapé Mipindiaú, which is a branch of the Rio Negro, towards the Nova Jerusalem community, a location served by the mission.

Community Service

The volunteers carried out several projects, such as manufacturing 550 concrete blocks to expand the church, painting the interior and exterior of the church, organizing a health fair, participating in adult evangelism and children's evangelism, celebrating two baptisms, distributing more than 50 basic food baskets, missionary visits to the community, and hosting a beauty afternoon for women on Valentine's Day.

For William Silvestre, leader of the Novo Tempo em Missão group, “It was a dream come true to take part of the team to live this service experience.” According to him, actions like this reinforce the sense of mission of those who participate.

“In these days, I relearned the value of gratitude for the small details, which often go unnoticed in our daily lives. I was able to see up close, in practice, that happiness lies in the little things. Now, returning home, I bring with me a lot of learning and the feeling that the mission continues, right here, in my home, in my community, in my church, in Novo Tempo, carrying the message of hope that Jesus will soon return”, says Jocemara Mai, who is a producer at TV Novo Tempo.

Jeferson Queiroz da Silva works on the Um por Cristo (One for Christ) project at the Instituto de Missões Noroeste and speaks of his satisfaction in welcoming the group for this special action: “It was great for us to welcome the Novo Tempo people here in our community. They came with a lot of desire to work. Residents will never forget those days.” The group returned from their trip on June 16, and are already dreaming about their next mission.
