Ivan Omaña Elected as GC Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries director during the 62nd GC Session in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ivan H. Omaña has been elected to serve as director of General Conference Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries (ACM) for the 2025–2030 term during the 62nd GC Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

A native of Venezuela, Omaña brings decades of pastoral and chaplaincy experience to the role. His family has a long legacy of church service, including his great-grandfather, Julio, who became the first ordained Venezuelan Seventh-day Adventist pastor at the 1935 GC Session. Ivan earned a theology degree from Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University) and served for 10 years as a pastor in Venezuela before transitioning to chaplaincy in Florida.

He later joined AdventHealth Kissimmee as a full-time chaplain and in 2015 became assistant director of ACM for the North American Division. Prior to his current position, he served as associate director of ACM at the General Conference. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Florida Center for Theological Studies and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Denver Theological Seminary. Omaña is also board certified in pastoral counseling and chaplaincy, and currently chairs the Adventist Chaplaincy Institute Board of Certification.

Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries supports and equips chaplains serving in military, health care, correctional, education, and corporate settings worldwide. It provides training, resources, and pastoral care for chaplains, ensuring they can effectively minister to diverse communities while upholding Adventist values in both secular and faith-based environments.
