The Ministerial Association of the Himalayan Section hosted an intensive three-day training session for pastors, Bible workers, elders, deacons, and deaconesses from June 27-30, 2024. Held in Banepa City, just outside the Kathmandu Valley, the event marked the first of its kind organized by the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) Ministerial Association, focusing on the theme “Church Leadership and Mission.”

Jonas Arrais, ministerial secretary of the NSD, led the sessions, beginning with an opening devotion that underscored the importance of living a spiritually purposeful life. He urged participants to set and strive toward personal and spiritual goals, illustrating his points with the story of Noah, who was faithful and righteous in God’s eyes.

Throughout the event, Arrais emphasized the critical roles and responsibilities of pastors, elders, deacons, and deaconesses, highlighting these leaders' need to balance knowledge, abilities, and attitudes. He also introduced the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s new initiative, “Back to the Altar,” which calls for increased personal and family devotion.

In addition to the spiritual teachings, practical aspects of church operations were discussed, including the importance of adhering to the church manual and utilizing handbooks for elders and deacons. The training was attended by 89 participants, who provided positive feedback and expressed a desire for similar events to be held annually.

The event featured various activities, including singing by women church leaders and a Bible quiz competition. The conclusion of the training saw participants returning to their communities with renewed visions and commitments to their faith and church duties.

Umesh Kumar Pokharel, president and ministerial secretary of the Himalayan Section, expressed gratitude for the successful event and the enriching experience it provided to all attendees.
