Day Seven of the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session closed with an evening worship service hosted by Hope Channel International highlighting the story of a man named Irving in Mexico.

Irving’s story is a part of the series Stories of Hope that shares powerful first-hand accounts of lives changed by the gospel.

Raised with spiritual doubts and family pressure, Irving finds himself longing for something deeper. His story shows him embracing a new faith that begins to challenge his worldview.

“There are times when I think I could give more or be better,” Irving said. “If I ever help someone, don’t see me working, see God.”

Before listening to Irving’s story, Debbie Maloba, director of Women’s Ministries in the East-Central African Division (ECD), shared the living testimony of a woman named Zawadi in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

After her village was set on fire, Zawadi fled with her little brother to a refugee camp.

“Everything she had was gone,” Maloba said. “Everything, it seemed, except for her breath and her name.”

Still, even with nothing, Maloba explained, Zawadi still had hope. Maloba gave a call to listeners to have hope in God, even in the darkest of circumstances.

Evening worship takes place each night of Session at 7 p.m. inside the arena. All evening worship sessions through Thursday, July 10, are hosted by Hope Channel International featuring a Stories of Hope video.

Evening worships are followed by division and union reports. Tonight's reports were given by the East-Central Africa Division, Ukrainian Union Conference, and the South Pacific Division.
