More than 100 young volunteers from the Caleb Mission project of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the city of Cusco (Southeast Peru Mission – MSOP), Peru, gathered to participate in the restoration of public spaces located in the streets of the historic neighborhood of San Blas, in the capital of the Inca Empire. The history of this neighborhood dates back to pre-Hispanic times, when it was an indigenous settlement. After Spanish conquest, artisans, merchants, and other settlers inhabited it as a center of crafts and commerce.

On Monday, July 29, the volunteers of the Caleb Mission project worked in coordination with the Board of Directors of the Traditional Neighborhood of San Blas to clean and paint the walls of the houses in the neighborhood. The walls, which were previously covered in graffiti, now look clean and stain-free thanks to this community effort.

This initiative's purpose was to improve the infrastructure's visibility and beautify one of the most important and touristic places in Cusco. It is a team effort that contributes to cultural preservation and reflects the values and commitment of Adventist youth to their community and history. In addition, sidewalks in Manuel Prado Park were painted.

Start of the Caleb Mission Evangelistic Caravan

Also, under the motto “Serving is plan A”, the great evangelistic caravan of the Caleb Mission project was launched in this territory, with Pastor Joel Flores as preacher, who brings the message of the Word of God to hundreds of people invited by Adventist volunteers. In Puerto Maldonado, the event was held at the Jaime White Adventist School, with the attendance of more than 1,000 people, many of whom decided to be baptized.

In the territory of the South Eastern Peru Mission – MSOP (administrative field of the Southern Peruvian Union – UPS), from August 27 to August 3, the actions scheduled in the context of the Caleb Mission took place, including community service, preaching centers, and blood donations. Project leaders hope that these activities will inspire more people to follow Christ's example of love for their neighbors and that more people will decide to give their lives to God.
