River Plate Adventist University hosted a training session for the One Year in Mission (OYIM) program, an international initiative that invites young people to dedicate a year to volunteering in various service contexts.

The meeting included Nicolás Luna, the current director of the youth and communication departments for the Argentina Union Conference, the administrative office of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the region. Luna highlighted the project's impact on participants' lives.

"It's an experience that not only provides practical training but also transforms the spiritual lives of young people," he stated.

The program, which has been running globally since 2013, promotes volunteer participation in service projects in major cities and diverse communities. In Argentina, the initiative brings together teams of young people each year, who are sent across the country to work in areas such as church planting, congregational revitalization, and the development of centers of influence.

In this edition, more than 50 young people from different provinces, and even from abroad, participated in intensive training on the university campus. The training included theoretical and practical sessions on evangelism, Bible studies, community work, and spiritual strengthening.

Luna emphasized that the program's motto reflects a mission that transcends time: a year of service with lifelong impact.

"The goal is not only what they will do during this year, but what this process will generate in their lives," he affirms.

After completing this training phase, the volunteers will begin deploying to their assigned destinations in different regions of the country, such as Misiones, Córdoba, Salta, Neuquén, San Juan, and Buenos Aires. There, they will integrate into local communities and develop specific projects in collaboration with churches and organizations.

In addition to the missionary focus, the program considers the integral growth of the participants, fostering values such as responsibility, coexistence, and social commitment.

Conducting this training at the River Plate Adventist University strengthens the link between academic training and service, consolidating the institution as a key space for developing initiatives that impact both the community and young people's lives.
