In 2020, due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the Adventist Education Network needed to reinvent itself. However, the challenge of continuing to offer students a comprehensive education remained. One of the values that underlie this purpose is that of solidarity. To develop it in its students, the Adventist School of Palmas, in Tocantins, annually holds a solidarity contest, and at the beginning of the year, the couple, Joaquim Silva and Maria do Carmo, was chosen to be accompanied and supported by the project.

After realizing the dream of homeownership, Silva and do Carmo, who lived together for 26 years, revealed another great desire: “I always dreamed of getting married, but we were in no condition”, lamented do Carmo. Therefore, as a Christmas gift, the educational institution decided to join forces to make this dream come true.

Preparations

First, on December 7, 2020, the civil wedding took place. Before the law, Joaquim and Maria were officially married. In order for the celebration to be complete, through donations, school volunteers prepared the entire religious ceremony on December 13, 2020, at 11 a.m. The chosen place was the backyard of the couple's new residence, which was decorated with red carpet, lamps, photos, pictures, flowers, and details on the altar.
