Weekly prayer walks, community outreach, and small groups are helping lay the groundwork for Samoa for Christ, as church members across the country prepare for the nationwide evangelistic campaign from August 16 to 30, 2026.

With a theme of O Mealilo ua Faaalia (The Mysteries Revealed), the campaign will feature more than 60 evangelistic sites across Upolu and Savai’i, including programs at Magiagi Seventh-day Adventist Church, Moamoa Seventh-day Adventist Church Plant, and a newly established site within a Samoan prison.

According to Afi Tuaoi, president of the Samoa and Tokelau Mission, churches have spent months laying the spiritual and relational groundwork ahead of the meetings.

“Many churches are doing prayer walks in the villages once a week leading up to Samoa for Christ,” he said.

Young people have been actively serving their communities and building relationships, while several churches have established “meals on wheels” initiatives to support elderly residents in their villages.

Prayer has been central to the preparation. Church members have been fasting every Wednesday, participating in monthly early morning prayer gatherings, and joining monthly prayer meetings.

Small groups have also become a key part of the evangelism strategy. Meeting in homes across the country, they are helping to build friendships with community members before inviting them to prayer meetings and special Visitors’ Sabbath programs that introduce them to the wider church family.

Samoa for Christ was officially launched on March 20 at Lalovaea in a ceremony attended by Samoa Prime Minister La’auli Leuatea Schmidt, along with church leaders, pastors, elders, and personal ministries leaders.

The campaign forms part of the wider Trans Pacific for Christ initiative, with churches across the Pacific preparing for coordinated evangelistic outreach throughout July and August.
