A new community wellness center has opened in Miag-ao, a town in the central Philippines known for its strong religious traditions.

The 7-Day Wellness Center, a project of Seventh-day Adventist members in Western Visayas, was inaugurated on September 3, 2025. The center was established to serve the public through health and educational programs.

The project was funded by students and teachers from the Wisconsin Academy in the United States, who redirected funds from a 2020 mission trip canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of allowing funds to go unused, they chose to invest in a facility that could provide long-term community support.

Services for the Community

The center is open seven days a week and offers a variety of free services. From Monday to Friday, it operates health booths, provides free massages, conducts blood sugar testing, and hosts family wellness sessions. On Saturdays, Adventists’ day of worship, the facility holds quiet gatherings for prayer and discussion. Sundays are dedicated to children’s programs, including free tutorials and reading activities.

Facilities include a mini-library, a massage and therapy room, and spaces for health education, counseling, and nutrition advice. Plans are also underway to open a small café offering vegetarian food and drinks.

“We didn’t come to preach. We came to serve,” one volunteer explained. “And in doing so, people’s hearts opened—sometimes more than words ever could.”
