Paraguay is currently going through a national emergency because of the second wave of Covid-19 infections. So far, the increase in infections is notorious, and the lack of medical supplies for hospitalized patients and those infected with the virus is already being felt.

Faced with this situation, the young people of 'La Liga del Bien' rose up once again to provide support to the families of patients who are in hospitals. These persons experience conditions that are difficult to cope with on a daily basis. Today, more than ever they need financial help, words of encouragement, and hope.

What is 'La Liga del Bien’'?

'La Liga del Bien', (The League of Good), is a project that aims to carry out a constant service to the community, analyzing and supplying their basic health, food, emotional and spiritual support needs.

There, personalized attention is carried out regularly, providing non-perishable food and basic utility items for families.

Young Seventh-day Adventists and other denominations participate in this project. All of them come together to act in favor of those who need support in this national health emergency.

'The League of Good' opened its activities in the southern part of the country and an initiative in the central area of the country, specifically in the Encarnacion region, began in 2019.

On Saturday, April 24th, the group began a new set of activities that focuses on the well-being of patients of the Encarnación Pediatric Hospital. Specifically, donations were made for mothers and newborns in the Hospital’s care. The young people also promised to maintain contact and help in any way they can with the progress of the health of the babies currently in the Hospital.

Interview with the youth leader of the South zone

Rogelio Ríos, a youth leader from the southern zone mentioned, “A few weeks before we [visited the hospital], we started collecting non-perishable items such as: diapers, baby clothes, sheets, and other needful items. By the grace of God, we already have 50 group members registered in the area, and the group is growing. This motivates us as leaders and also motivates other young people to join these initiatives ”.

'La Liga del Bien' is a project designed to achieve sustained social impacts throughout the year. The dream of the youth ministry in Paraguay is that each area of the country has a headquarters of ‘The League of Good', in order to achieve a solidarity commitment within the community.

In the midst of crisis, young people in Paraguay rise up to help those most in need. Together we will continue to bring hope. Together we continue, “Connected to Save”.
