The conflict that has been going on in Ukraine for over a year has forced thousands of people to flee their homes and seek a safer place. In July 2023, ADRA Ukraine, as part of the LEAP (Learning Environmental Adaptation Project) project, with the support of the Government of Canada, began funding three shelters for internally displaced persons (IDPs). These facilities are located in the cities of Dnipro, Lviv, and Chernivtsi.

The shelter in Dnipro is home to IDPs from Mariupol, and the shelter in Chernivtsi is home to most-at-risk children and women. The shelter in Lviv is a transit center where IDPs stay temporarily. Thanks to the financial support of the charitable organization, residents of these institutions receive food, utilities, and psychological assistance.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, more than 3,000 people have received assistance from ADRA Ukraine in supporting IDP centers.
