Kiri 1 TV and Hope Media Ministry (HMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 23, 2023, to launch “Kiribati Hope Channel,” a new television service for Kiribati Mission (KM).

Pastor Taabua Rokeatau, KM president, expressed his excitement about the new partnership: “We praise the Lord. This is another major milestone in the history of the church in Kiribati in the use of modern technology to help spread the message of hope here in this island paradise and the whole world.”

Tarataake Angiraoi, KM Media director, said the new channel aims to provide a platform for the Kiribati Mission to share messages of hope in Jesus and health, family, and youth programs with the local community.

The partnership between Kiri 1 TV and Hope Media will enable the new channel to access a wide range of high-quality content from Hope Channel International, an Adventist Christian network that reaches millions of viewers worldwide. Plans for the future of the channel also include the production of local content by Hope Media Kiribati.

According to John Tausere, Communication director for the Trans Pacific Union Mission, “the signing of the MOU between Kiri 1 TV and Hope Media represents an exciting new chapter in the history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kiribati, as it continues to adapt and evolve to meet the changing needs of its members and the broader community.”
