Hope Channel International Enters New Mission Frontier in Kinshasa

Hope Channel will proclaim messages of hope in French and Lingala languages utilizing media as a tool for their evangelistic efforts

A launching ceremony was held at the site where the new media center will be built, at Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Hope Channel International (HCI) recently launched a new media mission initiative focusing on Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This initiative, which includes the construction of a modern media center, will reach over 18 million people in the city that has the highest population in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is a collaboration between HCI, Adventist World Radio (AWR), the East-Central Africa Division (ECD), the West Congo Union, and the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. 

On October 21, a launching ceremony was held at the site where the new media center will be built. Leaders from Hope Channel International, Adventist World Radio, East-Central Africa Division, and West Congo Union participated in the ceremony while thousands of members from local churches in Kinshasa attended.

ECD President Blasious Ruguri, remarked, “This will be a major center of mission for French language programming, utilizing media to reach millions of people in Kinshasa and beyond, to the whole of the French-speaking world.” Musa Mitekaro and Yohannes Olana, ECD executive secretary and treasurer respectively, accompanied Pastor Ruguri during this ceremony. “Hope Channel will proclaim messages of hope in French and Lingala languages from this media center with programming on faith, health, and better lifestyle to families and communities,” Pastor Ruguri said. 

Meanwhile, AWR Vice President for Finance Delbert Pearman stated, “This is the first that AWR and HCI are collaborating in a major mission initiative to establish a mega media center in Kinshasa. AWR wants this media center to be a major global hub for producing French programming." West Congo Union President Lamec Barishinga expressed appreciation for the media center being located at Kinshasa and pledged the support of the union and local members in utilizing media as a tool for their evangelistic efforts. 

Pearman and HCI Vice President for Finance Gideon Mutero shared a message from AWR and Hope Channel respectively and Pastor Ruguri offered a prayer of consecration at the site. Hope Channel International is reaching new mission frontiers and with your support, the multiplying effect of media will be expanded to reach millions of people.
