Growing up in an adequate environment with proper health care is a determining factor in the lives of children; however, various factors and the economic crisis are limiting in many cases. Aware of this reality, the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Good Hope Clinic in the Miraflores district of Lima, Peru, launched an initiative two years ago to improve the quality of life for thousands of children.
The Good Hope Center, in conjunction with Adventist Community Services, located in Villa Maria del Triunfo, promotes a culture of preventive health. So far, 8,652 low-income children have been treated free of charge, facilitating access to basic health services. The objective is to reduce infant mortality, anemia, malnutrition, and other childhood diseases through medical care, examinations, delivery of medicines, psychological, dental, and nutritional care, health workshops, and lectures and seminars, among others. According to figures, 30,000 medical services were provided in consultations alone.
Specialists in general medicine, psychology, dentistry, nutrition, pharmacy, and other fields come to this district from the Good Hope Clinic or abroad to heal or accompany the recovery of their little patients.
A Project Born of Kindness
Adventist Community Services not only promotes social and spiritual development but also transforms lives. A campaign that allows this goal to be achieved is through its funding: For every three outpatient consultations at the Good Hope Clinic, free care is provided to a child in Villa Maria del Triunfo. In addition, special thanks go to strategic partners Unilabs and Multident, who act as helping hands with their donations.
Children Beneficiaries Integrate Three New Pathfinder Clubs
On Sabbath, October 7, 2023, the third Pathfinder Club was inaugurated in Villa Maria del Triunfo, thanks to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the One Year in Mission (OYIM) project; 23 registered children, all beneficiaries of the Good Hope Clinic, participated in the event.
Under the motto "We have a life to serve, some lives to heal, and many lives to save," the Good Hope Clinic continues its work of service. Undoubtedly, this project is a blessing for the children and families in Villa Maria del Triunfo. The church prays for each of the professionals and people involved.
