Following the rains of July 2021 in Alba County, Romania, several localities were affected by floods. On the road DN 74, which connects Abrud with Câmpeni, the water entered the houses of many families from the Roșia Montană commune, Curaturi, Gura Roșiei, and Cărpiniș villages. The electricity supply was also interrupted. Immediately following, 208 people were temporarily accommodated at the Cultural Center in Roșia Montană commune.

ADRA Romania wholeheartedly joined the cry for help of the victims in Alba County through the project "Bridge over the waters". Thankfully, there have been no human casualties, but the houses are flooded and people are desperate because their households have been affected by the floods. As is usual in crisis situations, in addition to the pain caused by unexpected disasters, we also see people coming together to help one another.

In July, ADRA Romania helped alleviate the existing emergency situation in Cărpiniș village, Alba county, by cleaning yards and ditches, providing food and personal hygiene kits, as well as providing social activities, as appropriate, to meet external needs and internal traumas.

“ADRA Romania's immediate intervention in the Roșia Montană commune, Alba county, included volunteering in every way possible to help the affected families. According to Daniel Gomboș, ADRA Project Coordinator in Northern Transylvania and Maramureș, ADRA Romania continues its humanitarian initiative in the area with the “Bridge over the waters'' project. The project includes cleaning the yards and basements affected by the floods, as well as offering food and hygiene products...”
