Maranatha Volunteers International recently dedicated its first two churches in the west African nation of Côte d’Ivoire. The ceremonies attracted many in the community, as well as local news crews. Also present was Seventh-day Adventist leadership, including the president of the Adventist Church in West Central Africa.
The day began at Maranatha’s first completed project in Côte d’Ivoire, the Anan Seventh-day Adventist Church. Here, Maranatha country director Gilberto Aruajo and Adventist leaders expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in the project.
Later, a ceremony took place at the Abbebroukoi Seventh-day Adventist Church, which will soon receive fencing and landscaping. The transformation of the property here was so stunning that members now want to add “Eden” to the official church name.
In 2019, in response to a request from the Adventist Church in West Central Africa, Maranatha began working in Côte d’Ivoire to provide churches and schools in the country. To start, Maranatha will focus on projects in Abidjan, the country’s largest city and headquarters for the Adventist Church in West Central Africa.
