This past weekend, the Adventist Church's Research and Geoscience Institute in South America (GRI-DSA) promoted the first Adventist Church Creationist Symposium in the territory of Brazil. Based on the theme, "Origins", the event was broadcast via the official channels of the Seventh Day Adventist denomination. The Origins symposium program began Friday, October 2nd, at 7:30 pm EST, on the Adventist Church's YouTube and Facebook channels, and continued Saturday at 4 pm EST.

Michelson Borges, Journalist and Vice President of the Brazilian Creationist Society (SCB), was one of the speakers at the event. He discussed panspermia, a theory that considers microorganisms or chemical precursors of life to be present in space, being able to give rise to life when they find a suitable planet.

Tiago Alves, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Sciences, addressed the origin of human ethnicities and racism, a theme that has won the attention of the world in recent months. Paleontology and The Flood was the subject of discussion by Biologist and University Professor, Danilo Oliveira.

“Our goal [was] to publicize Creationism, start the celebration of the Creation Sabbath and show that we have answers to current questions in the field of ethics and science”, explained Marcos Costa, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geology and President of SCB. The Creation Sabbath, celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday in October, was established by the world headquarters of the Adventist Church as an opportunity to pay tribute and gratitude to God for His creative works.
