The news of the contamination of one of the main lakes in the city of Oruro, Bolivia, was released through different media. Faced with this need for a health alarm, several young people, Pathfinders and Adventurers from the different clubs and churches in the Oruro area gathered on Friday, April 2 to help clean up Uru Uru Lake.

The director of Youth Ministry for the Central Bolivian Mission , Pastor Pablo Moleros, and the volunteer leaders of Oruro gathered to carry out community work with all the biosecurity measures in the lake. The support project was carried out throughout the morning of Friday, where the urgent need to carry out more cleaning projects in the municipality was evident. Without a doubt, the volunteers expressed their perspectives and the hope of raising awareness in the community regarding the issue of garbage.

“We thank all the leaders and regionals who dedicated their holiday to carry out this service to the community. Our clubs are there to serve others and not be oblivious to the reality of the community”, Pastor Moleros said.

The lake is 30 minutes from the city center, but from the beginning of the road, you can see the need for urgent action. When arriving at the place, the bad smell is considerable, and garbage of all kinds is abundant, accumulated from years.

The volunteers showed that just one day is not enough, but the joint work of the entire community makes a difference.

At the end of the activity, several young people were happy and committed to continue supporting the community and making the population aware of the need to care for nature, in addition to leading by example.
