An innovative ministry development app launched in Fiji last week represents a world first for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, according to its developers.

Fiji Mission president, Pastor Nasoni Lutunaliwa, and pastors Linray Tutuo and Tiko Kabu launched the MDLite app on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, for ministers in the Fiji Mission to begin using. The app draws on the same systems that are in the ministry development portal already in use in Australia and New Zealand, bringing together the work of many leaders over the years.

Designed by Pastor Russ Willcocks and his team at Adventist Technology in the South Pacific Division, MDLite provides pastoral, ministerial, and administration teams with a streamlined, user-friendly platform for ministry development, reporting, and communication. A key feature of MDLite is the Auxano library, which gives ministers access to a host of articles, videos, and audio podcasts freely available on their phones.

The app is designed for low-data environments and can be used in offline mode when data access isn’t available.

MDLite will also help with simplifying and improving supervision, internship, and administration processes, helping Fiji Mission to move forward.

At the launch of the app, pastors and spouses enjoyed a lunch together and the cutting of a cake.

The ministerial teams from the north met in Labasa on Wednesday, May 17, and the Central-Western team met on Thursday, May 18, in Lautoka for onboarding and training.

On Friday, May 19, students at Fulton Adventist University College were given an overview of the app so they are better prepared for ministry in the field when they complete their studies.

The original version of this story was posted on the Adventist Record website.
